The communication devices we are using today have convert the globe into a small village where interacting with people living in remote is just a matter of seconds. Such fast communication has boosted up the industry and has generated a lot more opportunities in all sectors. This has become possible due to the hard work and dedication of Electronics and Communication Engineers. The engineers of this discipline are expected to understand the minute details of available communication mediums and optimize them to support more efficient and powerful communication devices.
HCE, the Best College for Electronics and Communication Engineering in Bhubaneswar has made extensive research on the industry requirements in this discipline and has set up laboratories and equipment that provide adequate exposure to concepts and implementations. The department of ECE was established in 2009 and since then faculty has made every effort to improve the quality of teaching and the available facilities. Electronics Circuit Labaratory
The Basic Electronics Laboratory provides basic hands-on-training at the undergraduate level. This laboratory introduces students to identify and learn basic characteristics of basic components like diodes, BJTs, FETs, OP-AMPs and Digital gates. CROs, function Generators, Regulated Power Supply, Bread Boards are available in this laboratory.Stress is given for design and implementation of the circuits both using components and bread boards and using simulation softwares like MultiSim and P-Spice. CROs, Function Generators, Regulated Power Supply, Bread Boards, are available in this laboratory also.This lab takes care of the understanding of various digital electronic circuits. Experimentation facilities are available such as, Study of characteristics of active and passive devices, Circuit parameter analysis,Resonant & Transient analysis, Study of different logic gates,Design and analysis of different combinational and sequential circuits.
This lab takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various analog and digital communication techniques. It provides ample opportunities for a student to understand various nuances of analog and digital communication. The equipments like DSOs, CROs, Function Generators, and Communication Trainer Kits are available in this laboratory. This lab takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various analog and digital communication systems like Microwave, Optical And Satellite communication systems. The equipments available in this lab are Microwave Benches, Fiber Optics Trainers, Satellite Trainer, Spectrum Analyzer, TV Trainer kits.
Digital Signal Processing Laboratory
This laboratory takes care of the understanding and hands on training of various signal processing techniques and algorithms. It provides ample opportunities for a student to understand various signal processing techniques. Students are encouraged to develop algorithms and implement both in MATLAB and DSP Processors. In addition to the above this laboratory also facilitates students who want to do minor and major projects in the area of Signal Processing. The major equipments in this lab are Personal Computers, MATLAB 7.0.1, TMS 6713 DSP Processors and real-time DSP development tools.
VLSI Design Laboratory
In VLSI Design Lab, the main focus is in the areas of analog and digital design. All major VLSI Cad vendor’s tool licenses (Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor, Xilinx etc) are hosted here. The VLSI labaratory is equipped with the most up-to-date industry standard VLSI-EDA tools. All the systems are loaded with latest version application and system soft wares like LabVIEW, MATLAB, SPICE simulator, XILINX ISE.
Microprocessor Laboratory is equipped with 8085,8086 microprocessors and various interfacing cards and various interfacing devices, Embedded developments boards, Keil software. Microprocessor lab also equipped with 8051 flash Micro controller and various interfacing devices, embedded development boards with Ride IDE software, C cross compiler.
Microwave Engineering Laboratory
Microwave components and systems have made a great impact on our society with the rapid proliferation of various consumer products. In this context, the Microwave Laboratory at the department work towards the design and analysis of microwave circuits, components and sub-systems including micromachined devices for RF, microwave, millimeter wave applications. Micromachined antennas, phase shifters, and filters are some such components. This lab is equipped with various instruments such as Microwave Benches, Satellite Trainer, Spectrum Analyzer, TV Trainer kits, Radar, DSO, Antenna Trainer and software like LabVIEW, MATLAB and Circuit Maker.
The B. Tech. Program aims at providing a strong foundation in theoretical, practical and design aspects of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The project labaratory are aimed at providing opportunities to the students and guiding them to develop new electronics systems useful for real applications using theoretical, practical and design knowledge, which provides a balanced mix of quality teaching of theoretical concepts and experimental verification of the learnt concepts. Project lab has 15 high performance PCs loaded with MATLAB and other software packages. Hardware development unit has soldering equipments, bread boards, oscilloscopes and function generators.
